Getting Naked for Client Loyalty

If there was ever a book that makes vulnerability look appealing, it’s “Getting Naked: A Business Fable About Shedding the Three Fears That Sabotage Client Loyalty,” written by author, speaker, and management consultant, Patrick Lencioni.

But please don’t take it literally.  It’s definitely not what you think!

 The Scope

Lencioni addresses his personal consulting experience through the life of Jack Bauer, a business consultant who is forced to face his biggest fears.

In the book, Bauer’s career is on the line as he needs to successfully merge his company with a competitor. However, for this to happen, Jack has to overcome obstacles of his own and is put to the test in a way you would never imagine. 

Naked Service

“Getting Naked” introduces you to the 'naked service' model which will help you transform the way you build relationships through business and in everyday life. This book challenges all readers to open themselves up to new ideas and thought processes.  It offers valuable life lessons as well as guidance to help overcome the top three fears standing in the path of your success:

• Fear of losing relationships – not being afraid to be vulnerable with clients such that you're able to share the kind truth rather than sugar coat the truth in your favor.
• Fear of being embarrassed – being able to admit your own shortcomings by asking "dumb" questions or making suggestions to stimulate thought rather than assume the obvious. 
• Fear of feeling inferior – the ability to put the needs of others before our own and make everything about the client.

…as if it were that simple!  

How Many Stars?

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars because nothing is perfect, right?  I would consider this book “an easy read” and excellent for anyone in the consulting, coaching, or advising fields but could also lend itself helpful in personal life situations as well.   The message that it conveys to its readers may be hard to swallow but it's definitely a memorable one!
